Do you qualify for a windows grant?
Government funding for windows is means tested, and glazing is rarely funded on its own.
You may qualify if all four of these are true
✓Your home is in England and privately owned, either by you or by your landlord1
✓Its EPC rating is D, E, F or G1
✓Your household income is usually £36,000 a year or less, or someone in the home claims a means tested benefit1
✓Insulation or heating work is happening at the same time, because glazing is funded only as a secondary measure2
You will not qualify if
✗Your EPC rating is A, B or C
✗Your income is above the threshold and nobody in the home claims a qualifying benefit
✗You only want the windows replaced, with no other energy efficiency work
What if you are not eligible?
You will need to pay for the work privately. ECO4, the main route to fully funded windows, closes on 31 December 2026.2 The quotes on this page are for privately paid installation, so comparing a few is the quickest way to bring the price down.
Outside England: Scotland offers an interest free loan for glazing rather than a grant, the Welsh Nest scheme excludes double glazing, and Northern Ireland’s Affordable Warmth Scheme caps household income at £23,000 and treats windows as a third priority measure.3
